Information for Theatres
Want to help create bold new work from a new perspective? ReImagine is seeking partner theatres to host the development work for our playwright grantees. In order to center the artist and their process, the playwrights will review applications and choose a theatre to host their work.
What is the theatre’s role?
If selected by a playwright, the theatre agrees to host an online workshop for the playwright in 2021. The playwright will guide the process to meet the needs of their project; the theatre serves as the “home” for the workshop by hiring artists and providing stage management and other technical/logistical support. This is NOT a commission – the theatre and the playwright agree to spend this time together with no future commitment on either side. The theatre will receive funds equivalent to 20 hours of time with director, dramaturge, and actors, as well as a small administrative fee.
What is the timeline?
All development work must be completed by December 31, 2021. If selected, the theatre will work with the playwright and ReImagine to construct a schedule that fits the project. Though not required, our hope is that each project will participate in ReImagine, a part of the 2021 winter TYA/USA conference. To do so, we would ask that you and the playwright contribute a full or partial recording of a workshop reading or other artifact from your development work that would best represent the project to the field. These recordings would need to be submitted by the end of October, 2021.
